Intelligent Urban Transport Share Share

Workshop on ICT and Transport

from 19 to 20 December 2011 with daily session times from 09.00 - 15.00.

This workshop on ICT and Transport aims to provide an overview of the management and governance of transportation systems in the Middle East and beyond. In particular, it seeks to explore the role ICTs already do and increasingly can play in urban transportation systems.

More precisely, we would like ….

  • To identify the role ICT’s can play in making transportation systems more efficient and less congested
  • To explore how intelligence can be embedded into transportation systems,
  • and how it can be better leveraged to improve mobility
  • To discuss how ICTs can help improve the governance of transportation systems
  • To analyze how intelligent systems can be used so that users become more active participants in governance

We will seek to use examples from the region, if possible. We will gather between 15 and 20 participants, notably academics, policy-makers and transportation managers. Among them there will be people with good knowledge of the transportation sector, people with a good insight in the local transport decision-making processes, as well as ICTs’ experts.

More specifically;

  • Policy-makers from the municipal, local or federal government and other countries in the MENA region
  • Academics
  • Private sector representatives from ICT, engineering, construction & transport companies

The two days will be structured around the inputs of the participants. Each participant will make an active contribution (presentation of approx. 20’) to the topics at hand and will actively participate in the discussions. The goal is to foster a community of experts in intelligent transport management and governance in the region and beyond. A detailed program attributing presentation slots to each of the participants will follow.

This event is invitation only, however if you would like to represent your organisation at this event please contact us with details of the subject matter you will represent. We look forward to hearing from you.
