UAE-Swiss Research Day 2012, is a workshop event being jointly organized by EPFL (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne) and Zayed University. The Research Day 2012 will be held under the Co-Patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Zayed University, and H.E. Dr Alain Berset, Swiss Minister of Education and Research. This event will take place on the campus of Zayed University in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai on 11th and 12th November, respectively.
The Research Day 2012 is organized jointly with the Emirati-Swiss Friendship Forum (ESFF), a bilateral initiative co-chaired by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, special advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, and H.E. Mr. Pascal Couchepin, former President of Switzerland.
The Research Day 2012 will focus on "Frontiers in Water, Energy and Sustainability" and this event will constitute a platform to present graduate-level research projects carried out by students and faculty members from leading UAE and Swiss institutes. This event will feature academia and industry experts on the afternoon of 11th November in Abu Dhabi, as well as two oral sessions and one poster session on 12th November in Dubai, as provided in the program. Visitors and participants at the poster session will have a chance to vote for two projects: one Emirati, and one Swiss. The leading presenting student of each of these two laureate projects will be rewarded at the gala dinner of the Emirati-Swiss Friendship Forum.
We look forward to welcoming you to the UAE-Swiss Research Day 2012, on the campus locations of Zayed University in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and to explore together state-of-the-art research and innovation in the United Arab Emirates and in Switzerland, in the trans-disciplinary field of Water, Energy and Sustainability.
