Power distribution along a supply chain is an important factor, which directly affects how a supply chain behaves in long and short terms.
In his Master thesis, Ramesh Roshan Das Guru studied the influence of coercive power on the inventory management part of supply chain in a controlled environment.
Results show that awareness of power plays a significant role in the way coercive power is exercised. It is also observed that the ordering behavior is modified and the cost and satisfaction levels are negatively influenced whenever coercive power is exercised under full awareness.
